It’s good to be back in Queensland for summer.
I have been in northern hemisphere winter for the last two Australian summers. There is so much that I have missed. The scattering of purple across the city when the jacarandas are in flower. The ease of putting on a single piece of clothing to leave the house. The unbearable heat and humidity during the day building up to the relief of a brilliant afternoon storm.
Ahh the classic headphone-jack-not-fully-plugged-in trick. Gets me every time.

I was just looking down at my lunch (which is like four types of leftover salad) and was so impressed that it was all vegan.
Then I remembered the whole egg mayonnaise that I used in the potato salad.
But hey, I put extra mustard in it so that makes it okay.
I work at a jewellery store. I’m sick of helping same-sex couples look for engagement rings and wedding bands and knowing that they can’t legally get married. It makes me really upset.
My head is in that space where I need to write a big list, drink some green tea, go for a run, and then watch a lot of the West Wing.
Especially that episode when CJ has to ask lots of questions about the census.
